Christine Billies
Ms. Christine Billies has been a dedicated, creative and hardworking volunteer for Georgia Ensemble Theatre for the past 15 years. Ms. Billies is a resident of Roswell, and a theatre-lover going way back. Raised in Wisconsin, she studied theatre at Northwestern University, and then lived for many years in the New York City area. While there, she taught children emphasizing the use of arts in the classroom, and she appeared as an extra in soap operas. Her work with Georgia Ensemble Theatre has included (but has not been limited to): volunteering as an office assistant one day a week for many years; attending special event functions manning the “GET table” providing information to patrons about Georgia Ensemble Theatre productions and classes; distributing GET materials to newcomer groups and visitor centers; teaching costuming and makeup classes to students in the GET Conservatory; and she has served as Costume Designer for the past 10 years of the GET Conservatory Summer Performance Camp costuming more than 30 children each year for our annual summer camp production. “Chris” is a kind and intelligent woman who loves sharing her love of the theatre and GET with everyone. Last year, Chris even generously donated a scholarship to the Theatre for one student to attend Summer Performance Camp. The staff of Georgia Ensemble Theatre highly recommends Christine Billies as recipient of the Suzi Bass Volunteer of the Year Award, a well-deserved award for her life-long commitment to theatre and theatre education.
