D. Martyn Bookwalter has designed more than 400 productions for theatre across the county. His designs include the award-winning production of Talley's Folly at the Pasedena Playhouse and several productions for Center Theatre Group in Los Angeles, including Like Jazz, QED (and the subsequent Lincoln Center Theatre production), The Wood Demon, Hunting Cockroaches, Passion Play and Frankie & Johnnie in the Clair De Lune. He designed A Perfect Wedding, the inaugural production at the new Kirk Douglas Theatre in Culver City, as well as Barbara Cook's Mostly Sondheim at the Ahmanson. He has designed for the Geffen Playhouse, Long Wharf Theatre, Playhouse Theatre in London, San Diego Rep, Pittsburgh CLO, Colorado Shakespeare Festival, Colorado Festival of World Theatre and South Coast Rep among others. He is currently the art director of the hit Fox Television show "MADtv," for which he has received eight consecutive Emmy nominations. Other awards include the 2001 Angstrom Lighting Lifetime Achievement Award from the L.A. Drama Critics Circle, four Drama Critics Circle Awards, a Sarah Siddons Award and 25 Drama-Logue Awards.
