October, 2005The 2005 Spirit of Suzi Bass Award went to Karen Howell: actor, director and long-time volunteer Chair of the Actors Equity Association Atlanta Liaison Committee. . A Commemorative Spirit of Suzi Bass Award was given to Bob Bass and the Bass Family in recognition of their support. .
Four Suzi Awards for Performance were also presented, after being chosen by committee.
Outstanding Production
Alliance Theatre for The Color Purple Based on the novel written by Alice Walker Book by Marsha Norman, Music and Lyrics by Brenda Russell, Ailee Willis and Stephen Bray
Outstanding Director
Carol Mitchell-leon for Mahalia, by Tom Stoltz (Produced by Theatre in the Square)
Outstanding Actor
Christopher Ekholm in The Diviners, by Jim Leonard, Jr. (Produced by Theatre in the Square)

April, 2005The very first Spirit of Suzi Bass Award (2004) was presented to Kenny Leon in a small ceremony at VSA/Arts of GA. Mr. Leon is a nationally known actor and director who has greatly contributed to Atlantas Theatre Community over the past twenty years. He is currently the Artistic Director of True Colors Theatre Company. |
